Council ‘Public Hearings’

In response to questions posed to Summerland Council via email on March 16, 2011 – the official answer from the Summerland Council representative was as follows:

Thank you for your email.  At this point Council will soon decide what, if any, sites the South Okanagan may submit to the Province.  They may submit sites (not known at this time) and then the Province may not be interested in them.  If that is the case then it ends there.

If they submit sites and the Province picks one we submitted and it is in Summerland, then there will be Public Hearings where people will have a chance to voice their opinions as there will be zoning changes etc.  It can be taken off the table then depending how that all goes.

Council have talked about and may (although they don’t HAVE to) do another poll of some kind at that point on a specific site.

We do have information on our website at http://www.summerland.ca and you are always welcome to email your opinions at any time.  Please keep checking the newsletter that goes out with the utility bill as well for updates. Hope this helps!
